| Notes |
Came over from Ireland with his family in 1819. When he died he left 3 80 acre farm tracts. One in Marion county and two in Johnson county. Bought 1 160 acre tract (SE 1/4 sec 36 in Wayne Township) and an 80 acre tract (W 1/2 of SW 1/4 sec 31) in 1821. Listed as a resident of Butler Ohio in 1821. (from Marion Co., Ind. land transactions)
Samuel and Susannah were transferred out of the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin Indiana in 1833, presumably when they decided to move to their farm in Marion Co., Ind. They were "numbered among the worthy pioneers of Johnston Co".
Samuel bought a tract of land in Sec 24, Needham Twp., Johnson Co., Ind. He also owned part of Sec 24. in Needham Twp and Sec 30 in Blue River Twp.
"In 1822, fourteen families moved in (to Johnson Co., Ind) and it is not ascertained whence came Baker Wells and Samuel Johnson who came in this year". (Historical Sketch of Johnson Co., Ind - Blue River Twp - BANTA)
