John came to Wisconsin with two children born in New York, Richmond and Ranson. Thomas was born in Wisconsin in 1854 and we assume his mother was the same as Richmond's and Ranson's. It seems as though the mother died prior to 1860 when Sophia Hughes is listed as the wife of John.
