He was appointed by President Lincoln as an office of the Revenue Department. Lived in Washington, D.C. and Portsmouth, NH
He and Clara had two sons and four daughters all of whom married except Sarah.
An address by Israel Kimball delivered at the dedication of Academy Hall in Eliot, Me on Mar 18, 1840 is listed in "A bibliography of the state of Maine : from the earliest period to 1891. Williamson, Joseph,. Portland Me.. Thurston Print. 1992."
