- Lensmann Johannes Osmundsson Stokka was a renowned and wealthy man,
the wealthiest man and largest landowner in the entire skiprede. In
1645, Johannes had 5 farm hands and 8 female servants. He was the
lensmann in Vikedal from 1612 to 1622. Folk traditions about him and
his wife, Brynhild, have survived right up to the present day.
It is said that Johannes and Brynhild had 28 children. Only 9 are
known to have reached adulthood. Interestingly enough, Johannes had
to pay a fine of 61/2 dalar in 1610, because his eldest son was born
very shortly after their wedding.
