There is no mention of Ingemund in any surviving documents and he is
only known from the patronymic of his son, Sigurd Ingemundsson Bonde.
But there is reason to believe that Ingemund lived in Vats and may
have been descended from a chieftain who was a friend of King Harald
Fairhair. This chieftain, Ingemund "the old" Torsteinsson, later
moved to Iceland, but left a heir in Vats. The name Ingemund shows up
frequently in this area over the succeeding generations.
