Notes - John, 1st Laird of Crawford, stepson of Baldwin de Biggar (ancestor of the Earls of Wigton), possessed c1153 the northern part of the territorial Barony of Crawford, later called Crawfordjohn, and took the surname Craufurd. [Burke's Peerage]
