Notes |
Scalped and left for dead in the Pascomunch Massacre May 13, 1704. The only survivor of the family. He barely escaped death which took the lives of his father and two brothers.
After the massacre, when his father and two brothers were killed and his mother taken a captive, he appears to have removed with the Janes family to Coventry, Connecticut. Benjamin Janes, with whom he went, was son of the immigrant William Janes or Jeanes, who was a school teacher at New Haven,
He was a "fence viewer" in 1731, on a commision, also to "call the people to the Hall" in 1731.
His date of death is listed as February 1, 1783, age 87 according to a monument in the Beech Plain Cemetary in Sandisfield, MA.
