Notes |
email from Rae Viscovi Feb 2007 | Robert Newell and Mary Clark had six children: James, Agnes, Margaret, Joe, Tom, and Sylvia. Margaret married Edward Kitto in 1918. They had two children: Irene (1920) and Wilma (1922). They lived in Coal Creek. Irene married Albert E. Penny and they had three children: Teddy (Albert Edward Penny, Jr.) (1946), Patricia Irene (1951), and Robert Edward (1953). Wilma married Raymond Syputa (1921) and they had four children: Rae (1945), Evelyn Lorene (1947), Debra (1951), and Richard Edmund (1953). Irene moved to California to marry Albert. Wilma moved to California with her parents and married Raymond. Both Raymond and Albert were from Rockvale, Colorado. They all met in high school. Rae married Bruno Viscovi, Evelyn married and divorced and has a son Michael Bruno (1976), Debra married Wade Schalles and has a son Jacob (1981), and Richard married and divorced and has two children Christina (1979) and Stephen (1982). Irene died in 2006. Albert died about 2002. Wilma and Raymond are still living, but Wilma has Alzheimer’s disease as did Irene. (second email) It was Robert J. Newell. I assume the J stood for James. Margaret was born in 1899 and her husband was born in 1888. We know our Robert was born in Dalmellington on October 12 1864 and he died April 3, 1935. I have those dates from my mother. Mary Clark remarried after Robert died, a Mr. Good and she is buried in the Union Highland Cemetary under the name Mary Good. She died in 1942. My grandmother, Margaret, did not speak to her for quite a while after that. The youngest daughter, Sylvia, of Robert and Mary married Clyde Knisley and they lived in Florence until they died. My grandmother and grandmother also moved to Florence when my mother and aunt were in high school. I am pretty sure it is the same family, there are two many coincidences in names and dates. We also know that Robert's family came from Ireland and went to Scotland, he was teased by my mother and aunt about the fact he considered himself a Scot, but was of Irish descent. According to our records he came to the US in 1885 and Mary came in 1887. I have the birth dates of all of Robert's children, if you want them. |
