  Simon was a soldier under Capt Nicoles Jul 30, 1588 (year of the Spanish Armada). Simon was listed a freeholder (of land) at Ringstead 1604/5. In 1608, he was charged 4 shillings for expenses of musters. His will written Dec 19, 1627, describes him as a yeoman. He mentions eldest son Richard, youngest son William, 2nd son John, Isabell his wife, and his children's grandfather John Wells and son Thomas Deceased.
