    • From a newspaper article in the Indianapolis Star July 27,1930, Abrahm's home was highlighted as an old gray brick house on south Delaware. The home was currently being used as the Hartwig-Kelley Museum. Abraham Hoefgen was described as tall and lank. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and from an old German family. Abraham's tombstone says he died on July 20, 1872 at the age of 74y 6mo and 19 days, which backs up to born January 1, 1798. Abraham had four wifes, his first wife was said to be a fine looking women, Elizabeth Brown, also of an old German family. Abraham and Elizabeth grew up together in Lancaster County. I found there families living next door to eah other in the 1820 census. Abraham's father Sebastain was read as Baskin Hopkins my transcribers of the 1820 census records. George Brown was next door, Geo Brown.

Census: 1820 East Hempfield Twp, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania Pg 344
      Sebastian Hoeffgen / Baskin Hopkins 0 0 0 2 1 0 .. 0 2 0 1 0 ...
      George Brown / Geo Brown 0 0 0 2 1 0 .... 2 0 0 1 0 ...

In the 1830 census there is a Christian Minnah or Murrah between Abraham and George. I'm guessing that Abrham may have taken over his fathers property and perhaps a sister is living between the two families. Not sure if it is Abraham's or Elizabeth's sister. Abraham's mother Mary is still living several households away, with Abraham's brother name unknown
