      Moved to Potose, Missouri at age 10, then to Newburg, Ill in 1852. Had about 200 acres in Brimfield Twp, Peoria Co., Ill in 1860. Lived adjacent to Robert Marshall.

      Moved to Elmwood, Illinois in 1889. It is said that he dug the first grave in Elmwood Cemetery many years before he was buried there.

       
      He had a sister, (Mrs. Jane Ritchie) who, in 1906 was living in Des Moines, Iowa.
