came from Berwick, England about 1841. One source has his wife's name as Dorthea Royle, another source has that as the name of the boat they took from England to America. John is said to have had two wives, both named Dorothy.
He was made freeman in Concord in 1641. He probably lived on the south side of the river for some time. In 1654/5 he received his second share of division land.
Note: On Parents: Some genealogy files have John's parents as Thomas Heald (Hail) b. 1588 and Mary Turner b.1583. Most of these also have John coming from Berwick upon Tweed. It may be that an early genealogist had this wrong and it has been copied without verification. No one is certain.(from Heald's of Cheshire England)
