    • Data on the genealogy of the early generations of the Schmidgall family is from "The Scmidgall Story," compiled by Kathleen Schmidgall Floria, Peoria, IL, December, 1995, augmented with data found on the Internet, at Ancestry.com and the LDS source, FamilySearch.org. For data on Margaret Ann Schmidgall Hart (1902-1999): see Hart Family Records. (A.D. Hart Sr., 2002.)

"Many years ago in the land of Bavaria, there lived a man by the name of Louis Loeser (wife's name unknown). They had three daughters. Their names were Barbara, Dora and Magdalina. They were born in Lichdenfeld, Bavaria. Magdalina was born September 2, 1848 and Dora was born January 28, 1853. Barbara was supposed to have been the oldest of the three girls. There could have been other siblings born to this couple." - "The Schmidgall Story."
